Shire Officers / Regular Events / Special Interests
Regular Events
Shire meetings are held every Thursday evening at the First Presbyterian Church Hall at 509 Prendergast Avenue, Jamestown, New York 14701. Meetings start at 7 PM. Summer meetings are held in Busti if the weather is nice, at the Presbyterian Church Hall if the weather is inclement. Meetings during the winter months will probably be held at the Presbyterian Church Hall. The last Thursday of the month is a potluck dinner held at the church hall. Meetings will probably not be held on major holidays.
Heavy Weapons Practice is held at shire meetings. Archery & Thrown Weapons practices are held at Hillhaven Farm. Fencing Practice and Sewing & Embellishment Guild meetings are held at private homes. Check our calendar for details.
DIRECTIONS TO SHIRE MEETINGS AND HEAVY WEAPONS PRACTICE: [509 Prendergast Avenue] (Winter Meetings) (Inclement Weather Meetings) Take Rt. 86 (formerly Rt. 17) to the Jamestown Exit. Take Rt. 60 South to 5th street, turn left. Go straight to Pendergast, turn left. At the light turn left, parking is directly on the right, church on the left.
DIRECTIONS TO SHIRE MEETINGS IN BUSTI: [815 Busti-Sugar Grove Road] (Summer Meetings) (Fair Weather Meetings) From the Church Hall meeting site, take Pendergast south to 4th Street. Turn right on 4th, and take it to Washington (Route 60). Turn left on Washington, go a half mile and turn right on Forest Ave. Take Forest Avenue south for not quite five miles, it will turn into Busti-Sugar Grove Road. The site is on your right hand side going towards Sugargrove after you go through the five way stop coming from Jamestown. If you're coming from Sugargrove, it will be on your left after you come down the hill. If you make it to the intersection you went too far.
DIRECTIONS TO POST-MEETING GET-TOGETHER'S AT FRIENDLY'S: [10 South Main Street] Take Rt. 60 South from the regular meeting place. Go downhill, pass under the railroad bridge with the McDonald's ad on it. Turn right into the parking lot.
DIRECTIONS TO HERALDRY GATHERINGS AT GOLDEN GRIDDLE: [222 East 2nd Street] Take Rt. 60 South from the regular meeting place. Turn right at 4th street. The Y.M.C.A. is on the corner. Move into the left lane after you turn and go to the next light. This is Washington St. The Golden Griddle is on the corner across the street. Find suitable parking where you can. The meters do not need to be paid on weekends.
DIRECTIONS TO ARCHERY AND THROWN WEAPONS PRACTICE AT HILLHAVEN FARM: [2557 Berg Road] From the Shire meeting site, take Route 60 North for a little over three miles. Turn right onto Tompkins Road. (If you're coming from the 86/17, it's just a little bit north of the Route 60 exit. Turn right onto Matson Road. Turn left onto Berg Road. Look for the Hillhaven Farm sign. The street address is 2557 Berg Road.
