Calumet Camporee Boy Scout Demo August 17-19, 2012

For those of you unable to make Pennsic this year and for those of you who may be suffering from PPD (Post Pennsic Depression), the Shire of Heronter will be running a demo encampment for Calumet International Camporee at Elk Lick Scout Reserve, (2420 Bordell Road, Smethport, PA 16749) on August 17-19. This is an annual event for the Boy Scouts of America hosted by Alleghany Highlands Council. There are usually around 1000 scouts and scouters in attendance.

This year the event is medieval themed. The scouts would like an encampment all weekend. On Saturday they are also looking for martial demonstrations as well as, hands on A&S activities. We have also been asked to judge the Dutch Oven Cooking Contest. Those of us not judging are welcome to compete. The event is free to SCA-diens in garb. For our encampment, period tents are strongly preferred. This is a Boy Scout event: Sorry brewers, it is a dry site; Sorry smokers, it is a tobacco-free site; and bards please keep it relatively clean.
